Myotonic (Fainting) Goats
Myotonic goats, also known as fainting goats, are a unique breed known for their muscle-stiffening trait caused by a genetic condition called myotonia congenita. Despite their name, they do not lose consciousness when they "faint." These goats originated in the United States in the 1880s, particularly in Tennessee.
These goats do well on pasture with fresh water, shelter, and supplemental feed. Like all goats, they need regular hoof trimming and vaccinations to stay healthy.
